Technology coaches model and promote digital citizenship.
To understand my work in this standard, click on a performance indicator below or use the drop down menu at the top of the page.
a. Model and promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers
b. Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies
c. Model and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness by using digital age communication and collaboration tools to interact locally and globally with students, peers, parents, and the larger community
One of the things I did early on in order to understand all of these digital citizenship performance indicators was to start by seeking to understand the state of my current school and its readiness to address digital citizenship needs. I interviewed my administrator and gained an understanding of the state of the following digital citizenship topics:
- Digital Access
- Digital Communication
- Digital Literacy
- Digital Etiquette
- Digital Law
- Digital Rights and Responsibilities, Health and Wellness, and Security
